Having been run under the guise of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and the Platinum Jubilee Stakes in recent seasons, the final Group One at Royal Ascot was been renamed last year in honour of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in 2022.
Here's our free guide to the 2024 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, including our best betting tips.
2024 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Tip - Washington Heights
Kinross has finished seventh and eighth in the last two renewals of this sprint. Like last year, Ralph Beckett's star will make his seasonal reappearance on Saturday and quick ground certainly wouldn't be his preferred surface.
There doesn't seem to be any pace bias on the track this week and possible front-runners have been drawn low, down the middle and high in this sprint. Favourite Mill Stream is placed nicely in stall eight and I remain confident that he can win at the highest level. However, I'm never keen to back short-priced runners in large-field sprints - especially when the last two winners of this Group One returned SPs of 33/1 and 80/1.
The one that I think has been most overlooked in the market is WASHINGTON HEIGHTS (14/1). Kevin Ryan's star hit the crossbar in several big handicaps last term, but rounded off his campaign with an emphatic Listed success out in Sweden.
Tom Eaves' mount has taken his game to a new level in 2024. Washington Heights made all and held off Mill Stream to win the Abernant Stakes on his reappearance. Ryan's four-year-old then finished fourth behind that same rival in the Duke Of York Stakes, where Eaves' mount hung left after hitting the front but was still only beaten half-a-length.
Washington Heights stumbled out of the stalls and was hampered late on when finishing sixth on his only previous start at Ascot. However, his excellent form on the Rowley Mile suggests that this sort of track should play to his strengths.
Eaves will likely make a bold bid from the front from his high draw in stall ten and, on this season's form, Washington Heights has every chance of maintaining that challenge.
